We had 5 walking participants.

It was a very hot day but what a great feeling. It was so inspirational to see so many pink shirts participating in the walk and the run. Even our young girls enjoyed their rides through the crowd.

Hopefully next year we will have more of our group join us. Many of our other staff were already participating in events of their own. Such as the Zumba for the Cure in Webster. 2 solid hours of Zumba. Also a Cancer walk to honor those who have been lost to cancer. I believe they walked until 3am.

I has been a great weekend for a great cause.

Until next time.

Growing Green teams up with Sunny Hill

Growing Green has partnered with BOMA to help stock cabinets and closets of the clients of Sunnyhill. Please read the following message of their services.

Sunnyhill Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide residential, recreational and educational opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Sunnyhill empowers individuals to become productive citizens and achieve their individual dreams. Sunnyhill improves the lives of people with disabilities and allows them to have a sense of accomplishment, independence and enjoyment in their lives. Sunnyhill serves over 200 people through residential services which include customized daily care, which provides support to individuals so they can live independently in the community and be successful in their home environments. Sunnyhill’s camp, Sunnyhill Adventures in Dittmer Missouri, provides opportunities for over 800 children of all abilities and adults with disabilities to climb the 50-foot Alpine Tower, take float trips, swim and enjoy the great outdoors. Finally, Sunnyhill’s education program, Sunnyhill University, teaches students of all ages about their communities and the world. Students attend “school” four days a week and are taught by retired, Missouri certified teachers and support staff. Students not only develop intellectually, but also improve their communication skills, social skills and other valuable living skills.

How can you help? Please lend a hand by collecting the following items and placing them in boxes in your facilities. (We can provide boxes if needed). As our technicians come around (to our current clients) we will collect your boxes and bring the items back to our office and then deliver them to a Sunnyhill pick up site.

You can make a huge difference to someone in need.

Please email Susan Esker susan@growinggreen.com to let me know that you plan to participate.

There will also be another drive to help with school supplies so keep that in mind as well.

Thank you in advance!!

Susan Esker
Growing Green Inc.
3954 West Pine Blvd.
St. Louis, MO 63108
314-531-7920 x 325
www.growinggreen.com

Certified WBE Contractor

Welcome back to Growing Green. They are working on a new line of planters that are considered "Green". It is their "Green" Initiative. These planters are made of bamboo a highly renewable resource. We have a sample on hand and it is beautiful.

Also, all of the other planters from this manufacturer are painted with a special paint that when being applied emits 50% less VOC's than standard paint.

We are so excited about these new additions. The design team from New Ground - sponsored by Growing Green - designed and fabricated the living garment for a fashion contest among local professional designers in St. Louis.

The gown was based on a colorful "butterfly" concept using six (6) different types of plants and more than 400 leaves. Notice how the jacket has been woven out of the leaves. The bodice was created out of real moss. The head piece incorporated flowers from bromeliads.

Keeping it fresh required changing many leaves just hours before the event.

Creative...fun... and a great way to celebrate the wonder of plants and the many ways they add to our quality of life.

This rooftop patio is new to us this year.

What a spectacular display!!

Here is a close up to one of the planters shown above on the rooftop patio deck. It's called the Living Rock. It serves as a unique vase for a contemporary green arrangement. These are big hunks of slate with a space chiseled out containing a small pin frog.

When we attended the Tropical Foliage Symposium in Florida, we were introduced to the living rocks. They would be a great accent any place you would put a flower arrangement or a small tropical plant. For example; on a reception desk, in an executive office on the credenza, or on a side table in a seating area.

If you're looking for Living Rocks in St. Louis, we have them.

IBM Commercial

We just saw this commercial from IBM.
